Santiago Melendez Florida Man June 6

Santiago Melendez Was Arrested After Attempting To Flee, Running Into A Group Of Off Duty Police Officers | June 6

When fleeing from police make sure you watch where you’re running. Santiago Melendez’s attempt to run from law enforcement officers took a wrong turn.

The Florida man was fleeing cops when he pulled his vehicle into the parking lot. He chose the parking lot of the Hilton DoubleTree near Universal Orlando, bailed out, and started to run away.

He was spotted by no less than five witnesses — who were all off-duty officers. The kicker? The officers were there because they were attending a law enforcement conference at the hotel.

Several of the off-duty officers gave chase — one yelled “police, stop” — and one caught up to Melendez, tackling him to the ground.

Melandez was wanted on outstanding charges. He’s now facing new charges including aggravated assault and battery on a law enforcement officer and drug possession.
