Florida man rescues grandma floating on ice throne

Florida Man Challenge March 3

A Florida man is being hailed a hero after saving a grandmother as she drifted away on a floating ice throne. The grandmother is quoted as saying she “wanted to feel as though she was a queen”.

“When I got on it, it started to totter and a wave was coming in,” Judith Streng said. “A very large wave came in and kind of made the throne kind of rock, and I could tell that I was slipping off.”

While others had sat on the ice throne earlier, it appears as though a wave is to blame for bringing her out to sea. A Florida man who was boating nearby saw what was going on and went to the rescue.

“He was obviously under the influence of an unknown substance and would not calm down,” a deputy wrote in the report. Daniel Leneve struggled while deputies attempted to apply handcuffs and screamed that “everyone was going to die.”

A witness told deputies that the man and his girlfriend were hanging out in the backyard when she heard a commotion. Leneve allegedly “violently” tossed the girl around, walked into the house and took his clothes off before smashing mirrors, glass and other items.

Leneve is facing charges of battery, resisting an officer with violence, criminal mischief of $200 or less and child abuse without great bodily harm.
