Andrew Levy Champions Against Child Hunger, Pays Off Lunch Debt Of 400 Students So They Don’t Need To Eat Cheese Sandwiches | October 15

Jupiter: A man in Jupiter, Florida paid off the lunch debt for every child in the system of his town, and it all started with a Facebook post. The man Andrew Levy is responsible for the act of kindness.

According to reports, Angie Vyas-Knight, the administrator of the “Jupiter Mamas” group on Facebook, said she was sick of national news stories about kids who couldn’t afford to buy lunch at school. The woman asked the Palm Beach County School Board for a list of her district’s stats.

She shared that list of the nine schools’ outstanding lunch debt of $944.34 in the Facebook group. A few weeks later, real estate agent Andrew Levy saw the list. He decided he wanted to do something, since he knew that kids with lunch debt simply go without eating or are given a cheese sandwich.

So, Levy paid the balance for all 400 kids in full. He doesn’t want to stop there, though. The man is going to do either a GoFundMe page or a fundraising page that can raise money every quarter, so lunch debt never accumulates so that children never have to worry about a hot meal and parents never have to worry about paying the bill.

Others were inspired by Levy’s act of kindness. Over 200 people offered to help out on his Facebook alone.
