Terry May Scalds A Child With Hot Water, Was Arrested Last Year For Putting Different Child In Oven | October 16
Volusia: A Florida man who was arrested after putting a child in a hot oven was arrested earlier this week after pouring scalding hot water down a different child’s back. In the latest incident, the man Terry May, is said to have deliberately scalded a three year-old boy after the youngster accidentally wet himself at a house in Deltona, Florida.
His injuries were spotted by teachers who ended up calling police about what they had seen. The boy’s mother reportedly blamed the mark on the boy being pulled across the top of a trampoline. But the boy himself told deputies a different story, saying: ‘My back hurts. Terry burned me.’
May is a relative of the child’s caretaker’s boyfriend and the caretaker was in the hospital when the child was burned. Investigators believe that he was burned two weeks before daycare staff noticed the injury.
May had originally hit headlines in 2018 after he put a three year old girl in the oven and turned it on. That incident left the child with burns on her foot and ear. Volusia County Sheriff branded the man the “Scumbag of the week” in May 2018.
But prosecutors later revealed that they’d been unable to prosecute that case, leaving May free to allegedly abuse another child.
Terry May, 47, of Deltona, was arrested Thursday on a charge of child abuse causing great bodily harm.
