Sefer Tzekas Is Facing Charges After Sneaking Into Backyards, Stealing Patio Furniture For Months | June 8

All Sefer Tzekas wanted were nice things. The 55-year-old is accused of telling police he has a problem stealing things because his family cut him off and he believes he deserves nice things.

The Florida man is accused of stealing numerous pieces of patio furniture and other outdoor items during the last six months. Police say Sefer Tzekas snuck into people’s yards at night to steal the furniture. Officers tracked him down through surveillance footage.

Deputies say they found these stolen items at his home:

  • Four patio umbrellas
  • Multiple patio tables
  • A love seat with a canopy and cushions
  • Five metal decorative fish
  • A decorative alligator
  • A hammock and wall clock
  • A wicker patio box filled with pool equipment
  • Numerous tools and other equipment

Tzekas told deputies he has mental health conditions and goes out stealing items at night when he can’t sleep. The report says Tzekas told deputies he has a problem stealing things because his family cut him off and he believes he deserves nice things.

He’s facing charges including petit theft, burglary and grand theft. He was also charged with possession of marijuana after investigators claim they found roughly 39.5 grams.
