Lonnie Maddox, AKA “The Rooster,” Was Arrested After Breaking Into A Home, Fleeing The Home In An Unorthodox Getaway Vehicle; A Horse | July 27
New Port Richey: While most people use a car as a getaway vehicle when committing crimes, Florida man Lonnie Maddox felt like being nostalgic. Pasco County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man after they say he rode a horse to burglarize a home in New Port Richey.
Deputies say Lonnie Maddox rode a horse named Angel to the victim’s address. He then walked around the property with the horse going through a locked cattle gate. According to an arrest report, Maddox opened a front screened porch by sticking his hand through the screen and unlocking the door.
Police say the front door of the home had a padlock, so Maddox allegedly went around back and climbed through a rear window. Maddox opened the window so far that the brackets broke, causing about $100 in damage.
Maddox apparently does not know the owner of the property. Deputies say he wanted to go inside the home because he thought it was abandoned and wanted to see it.
He was arrested and is facing various burglary related offenses.
