Kerville Holness Thought He Snagged A Villa For $9,100; He Bought A Strip Of Grass | June 16

Tamarac: When you’re in an online auction and spot a good deal your heart starts pounding as you make a bid. But this is a cautionary tale to make sure that you read all the fine print. Florida man Kerville Holness thought he bought a villa for $9,100 but he really bought a strip of grass.

According to reports, Kerville Holness was viewing an online auction for what he thought was a villa in the Spring Lake Community. He began bidding, eventually becoming the proud owner of what turned out to be a 1 x 100 foot strip of land.

The land, valued at only $50, starts on a curb and goes under a wall separating two villas in the Spring Lake community and then out to the back of the lot.

An official from the auction house said there’s not a lot Kerville Holness can do about his purchase. Naturally the man feels deceived. He says property appraiser photos linked to the auction site shows a villa being on the parcel he made a bid on.

However the appraiser’s site and information on the county’s tax site show no building value. Be careful what you buy! And remember, if it seems too good to be true it usually is.
