James John Hannigan Was Arrested After Sucker Punching His Ex Girlfriend’s New Boyfriend | July 1
Ocala: When it comes to relationships people can get possessive over past lovers. Florida man James John Hannigan was arrested after sucker punching his ex girlfriend’s new boyfriend.
The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that he was at the location to drop off his girlfriend when Hannigan arrived. The victim said he was in his vehicle when he asked Hannigan what he was doing, and Hannigan replied he was there to see “his girl, that they share.”
The victim said he replied, “that’s what you think,” and Hannigan approached the driver’s side window and punched the victim in the face while he was still seated in the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The victim said he then turned inside the vehicle and pushed Hannigan away with his feet. He said his girlfriend was present for the altercation and separated Hannigan from him. The victim said he was standing in his open door calling 911 when Hannigan broke free and started punching him in the face again, the report said.
The victim said he dropped his cell phone and defended himself by punching Hannigan. The victim’s girlfriend again separated the two and told the victim to leave. He said as he was driving away, Hannigan kicked his rear passenger door twice.
James John Hannigan was arrested and is charged with simple battery.
