Deputy Jackson Etienne Was Arrested And Is Facing Charged After Scamming A Man Out Of Nearly $30,000 | June 21
Orange County: Some cops let the power that comes with the job go to their head. Florida deputy Jackson Etienne was arrested and is facing charges after he allegedly scammed a man out of $30,000.
Jackson Etienne met the victim during a call for service last year and they became friends. The victim had a bus transportation business in Haiti and Etienne told him he could get two buses for cheap on an auction website.
In December, the victim paid Etienne $15,000 for two buses and $12,000 for a Cadillac Escalade.
Etienne kept telling the victim the vehicles were being delivered, but they never showed up, investigators said. The victim called the Sheriff’s Office at the end of January to make a complaint.
Investigators said they learned that Etienne never bought any of the vehicles and instead spent the money on meals, retail stores and gas. Etienne was stripped of his law enforcement duties after the investigation began. The agency will conduct an internal investigation once the criminal case is over.
He is currently facing charges of fraud and grand theft.
