Florida Man Matthew Mikos Was Arrestd After Breaking Into Home, Threatening Couple With Hatchet
This incident can really only be described as being similar to a scene from the Shining starring Jack Nicholson.
A Florida man is accused of trying to use a hatchet to break into a couple’s home and threatening them with a hatchet.
According to police, they were called to the scene by the home owners regarding a man who was trying to break in through the front door. The couple said that the man was only wearing underwear and was trying to break down the door with a hatchet.
Deputies say the suspect caused significant damage to the door before he fled on foot. With the help of a K9 unit and helicopter, the man was captured a short time later attempting to hide in a nearby ditch.
Police said that the man, Matthew Mikos, claimed that his actions were because of “the alcohol.” He said that he was too drunk to know why he was there.
Mikos apparently lives a few doors down from his victims. He was charged and is facing two counts of burglary with assault.
