A Florida Man Is Accused Stealing Clothing From The Magic Kingdom

Mickey Mouse surely wouldn’t approve.

A Florida man was arrested after allegedly stealing over $7,000 worth of property from Disney World. The man, Patrick Allen Spikes, was previously employed by them.

According to police he entered backstage areas at Magic Kingdom and stole more than $7,000 in costumes and other items from the Haunted Mansion attraction. An investigation was started after clothing from the Buzzy animatronic was stolen.

Investigators later learned that the Buzzy animatronic had also been stolen.

Spikes apparently posted backstage pictures of Buzzy on a Twitter account he ran called Backdoor Disney. He spoke with investigators and told them he didn’t know anything about the thefts.

The man sent photos of some of the stolen items to another Disney employee. When police seized his phone they found photos of multiple stolen items.

He sold some of the items online for upwards of $1,000.

Spikes has been charged with burglary of an occupied structure with a mask, dealing in stolen property and grand theft.
