Susan Blair Case Tries To Flee From Police, Strikes Train And Ends Up In Cuffs | January 18

Bay County: A Gulf Breeze woman was arrested after she was involved in multiple hit-and-run crashes in Okaloosa, Walton and Bay Counties, according to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). Susan Blair Case, 68, was arrested on Saturday around 7 a.m. in Panama City.

Troopers Darryl Sawyer and Jay Henson responded to a “Be On the Look Out” issued by the Walton County Sheriff’s office for a white Lincoln SUV. Trooper Sawyer saw Case weaving in and out of traffic and passing on the shoulder. She then continued onto the Hathaway Bridge at the high speed.

Case began to slow down and pass traffic that was stopped for the Bay Line Train, crossing US 98 between Gulf Coast State College and the Port of Panama. The SUV collided with the train multiple times.

As the troopers attempted to assist Case from the vehicle when she reversed the SUV and fled at a high speed, striking Trooper Sawyer and his patrol car. Police were eventually able to arrest the woman.

Susan Blair Case faces a felony charge for aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, a felony charge for fleeing and attempting to elude, and a misdemeanor for leaving the scene of a crash with property damage
