A Florida man spent weeks in jail for what police thought was heroin. The mystery powder turned out to simply be a bag of laundry detergent.

Officers responded to reports of a suspicious van in a parking lot and found the man sleeping in the vehicle. An officer allegedly tested a bag of powder found inside the van and determined it was heroin.

The man, Matt Crull, was arrested and charged with trafficking heroin. The arresting officer, Deputy Steven O’Leary was fired after an investigation found he had jailed at least 11 innocent people on drug charges.
